When I decided to visit Jordan this time my research showed me a budget conscious way to see the sights. By purchasing a Jordan Pass before I arrived I had my tourist entry visa waived and entry to some sights I wanted to see paid for.
The price of the pass is determined by the number of days you intend to visit Petra. Petra is the jewel in the crown of Jordanian antiquities. I chose the Jordan Expert with 3 day visit to Petra, free entry to over 40 attractions and along the waiving of the tourist entry visa fee.
Here are some of my days activities that included entry with the Jordan Pass:-
Half day from Amman – Al Mushatta, Umm Al-Rasas
One day in Amman – Amman Citadel and Roman Amphitheater, Museum of Popular Traditions
Full day from Amman
– The Desert Castles, Qasr Al-Kharana, Qasr Amra, Qasr Al-Azraq, Umm Al-Jimmal,
– Umm Qais, Ajloun, Tel Mar Elias (St. Elijah’s Hill), Pella
Wadi Rum,
Petra,
Full day from Petra – Little Petra, Shobak Castle
Aqaba – Aqaba Castle was not open the day I visited.
Check out the website https://www.jordanpass.jo/ for the full list of attractions and frequently asked questions.
Other attractions around Jordan are not included in the Jordan Pass, though well worth a visit. So make sure you visit Jordan Museum, Madaba, St George Church, church with the map mosaic, Mount Nebo, Lot’s Cave and Bethany and beyond Jordan, the baptismal site. Each of these activities ranged in price from 1 to 5JD.
Pack your bags, the jewel that is Jordan is waiting for you.
